Rules & Guidelines

FOR SUMMER CAMP
At Michigan Christian Youth Camp we strive to provide an environment that promotes Christian growth. We believe your child is a gift from God and they should have a safe and fulfilling camp experience. We want to have a place free from anything that could distract or hinder their spiritual growth and appreciate your help in creating this safe place for your children to experience Christ. Thank you for your understanding.

Check-In & Pick-Up

Check–In: Check-in begins on Sunday starting at 4:30p and runs until 6p. Upon arrival to camp, please stay in your vehicle and form a line in our main driveway. Registrars will greet you at your vehicle and check you in remotely. Dorm room, group, and counselor assignments will be communicated at that time. Parents/Guardians will accompany the camper to their cabin to meet the counselors and sign-in.

Pick-Up: At the dorm, all parents/guardians will need to sign-out their children at the dorm room on Friday between 3:00
-4:30pm. Only adults listed on your registration papers can pick up your child from camp. Any changes to the authorized pick up information will need written and documented approval prior to pick-up.

BALANCE DUE
Parents/Guardians can verify and pay current account balance using our online portal at your convenience. If you have any questions regarding your balance, please contact the camp office.

Nurse Check-In

Food Allergies & Concerns

The nurse will be available at the Nurse's Cabin during the registration time. All medical needs and health concerns need to be listed in the Camper Health Form that is available at the end of May. All medications (prescription, over the counter, or supplements) will need to be left with the nurse who will oversee the daily dosage requirement. Any concerns for your child can be discussed with the nurse at this time. Camp licensing requires that all medications be in their original container, be prescribed for the camper, and include clear, and current directions. The nurse will return any medications at the camp exit upon departure.
MCYC is able to accommodate peanut and tree nut free, gluten free, dairy free & vegetarian diets. All food restrictions need to be listed in the Camper Health Form that is available at the end of May. Restrictions that are not communicated prior to attending camp, suitable replacements for your camper cannot be guaranteed. If your camper has allergies outside of our accommodations, please prepare meal options supplements. Please contact the Food Service Director, [email protected], at least 2 weeks prior to your camp session to discuss the menu and any additions you will need to provide.

Lost Items

MCYC is not responsible for items left behind, lost, or stolen. Any lost and found items not claimed after 7 days are donated to a char- itable organization.

Due to the excessive cost of shipping (and the number of items that tend to get lost) we are unable to mail lost items. We are willing to make arrangements at the cost of the camper family to return items if necessary.

TIPS TO REDUCE RISK OF LOSING ITEMS:
  • Label all items with camper’s first and last name
  • Check the porch at Hawley Lodge before you leave
  • Send old stuff to camp, just in case!

Visitors During Camp

To keep our groups and staff safe, MCYC is a closed campus. All visitors must receive permission from the Executive Director, Program Director, or designated camp personnel. Upon arrival, visitors are to check in at the lodge.

Dress Code

While at MCYC, your child will be required clothes appropriate for all the activities they are participating in. Need help finding clothes that will work? Email [email protected]
We ask that all campers adhere to the following guidelines:
  • Tops with shoulders that are at least three fingers in width. All tops should be long enough to be tucked in.
  • Shorts that do not show anything that shouldn't be seen outside of a pool.
  • One-piece swimsuits (or tankini with no midriff showing). T-shirt and shorts over bathing suits when outside the waterfront area. If this is not possible we do not ask campers to wear t-shirts at the waterfront.  We have seperate gender swimming for this reason.
  • Closed toe shoes are needed for most camp activities.
Clothing that is inappropriate for MCYC activities:
  • Halter-tops, sundresses, crop tops, strapless tops, spaghetti straps
  • Athletic muscle shirts & cut-off t-shirts
  • Pants/sweatpants or shorts with wording on the buttocks
  • Yoga pants
  • Clothing or accessories with inappropriate messages for alcohol, political messages, tobacco products, profanity, sexual references or drugs.
