Join Our Summer Staff
Camp is a ministry. We set out to show love by serving others and sharing Christ's good news to all who come and spend their summers and weekends with us. It also has an impact on those that are serving. It can be a time to find out who you are and whose you are. In the calling of Abram God told him to "get thee out" (Gen 12:1 KJV).
We challenge you to get out of your comfort zone and join us in camp ministry. Serving at camp will help you become aware of your rescue and help you find answers to questions in the most unlikely places. Come to camp. Ask questions. Pause and hear your own name being beckoned by the voice of God.

Each year we hire a team of about 30 college and late high school students to join us in our ministry. It will be a summer that will change your life! Not only will you be impacting campers lives, but you will have a chance to form life long relationships with other summer staff. MCYC is about 90 minutes north of Detroit.
Pay Scale Starting pay is $375 per week plus room and board during the term of employment. Leadership positions start at $450. Each returning staff member gets an additional $25 for each year that they have worked at camp. For example, if you have worked two summers and this is your third you would make $425 per week. Frequently Asked QuestionsWhat does a day of work look like at MCYC?
Work starts after our daily staff Bible class. Every area is a bit different but usually from 10 a.m. to lunch and then 2 p.m. to dinner. After dinner we have chapel, evening activity, then campfire. We encourage you to participate in as much as you want and, in many cases, you will be assigned to an area to participate. A workday is usually about 7 - 8 hours plus activities, Bible class, and chapel. Can I bring my computer or tablet?
No. In order to do our best work to glorify God we ask that you leave all your media at home so as not to be influenced by the outside distractions of the world. Am I allowed to use my phone at camp?
MCYC has a strict no-use cell phone policy around campers. Staff over the age of 18 are allowed to keep their phones with them through the week. If you are under 18, phones can be left at home or kept in the camp office. Phones in the office can be accessed if needed. What days do I get off?
In general, all staff are dismissed after a staff meeting on Friday after the last camper is picked up (generally around 5/5:30 p.m.) You are off until Sunday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. Do I get time off during the week of camp?
Yes. We ask that you regulate your time with your department supervisor. A good rule of thumb is to try and relax for 60 - 90 minutes throughout each day. I don't attend a church. Can I still work at MCYC?
Yes. Not all our positions require that you attend church. However, many do require a faith background. And you will still be required to attend staff Bible class, chapel, and other spiritual growth opportunities throughout the week or summer. |
