Kitchen Assistant
Responsibilities
Assist in the daily operations of the camps food service
Pay rate starts at $375/week. Includes all meals, housing, and laundry supplies.
Physical Aspects of the Job
Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds including unloading food, carry trays of dishes, lifting supplies as needed
Visual ability to identify and respond to environmental hazards
Physical ability to operate kitchen equipment according to safe recommended methods
Physical mobility and endurance to perform tasks while standing
for long periods of time (6 - 10 hours or more)
Other Job Duties
Assist in Canteen operations.
Participate as a member of the camp staff team to deliver and supervise evening programs,
special events, overnights, and other all-camp activities and camp functions.
Advise staff on equipment or preparation materials needed for identified menu choices.
Unload and put away deliveries of food and equipment.
Assist in the preparation and cooking of food.
Clean and maintain all food-preparation and storage areas.
Wash all dishes, serving and preparation equipment,
and utensils according to regulated washing methods and temperatures.
Take out trash and cardboard.
Sweep and mop kitchen, food service area, and lodge as directed by lead cook or Food Service Supervisor.
Assist in routine sanitation of the kitchen and related equipment.
Set up food, supplies, and utensils for dining hall distribution.
Serve camp guests in both meal service and operation of canteen.
Store food and leftovers at proper temperature.
Clean and stock lodge bathrooms as needed.
