TEEN STAFF - Teens age 16 and up (as of June 1st) can volunteer for a week or more during summer camp.  Teens live in staff camp housing and join in summer staff activities.   Teens that volunteer for a week of camp will receive a $50 credit to come as a camper during teen week, July 7-12,

ADULT VOLUNTEERS - Adults volunteer on a weekly basis in many areas at camp during our summer camp sessions. Summer Camp adult volunteers stay in camp housing or commute. Summer Camp volunteers need to complete an application with references and a background check prior to serving at camp. Get your application started now!

Work crews are welcome for a weekend or day project anytime outside of our summer camp season. Contact information for setting up a work project is listed at the bottom of the page.

Summer Camp

Each summer we depend on volunteer staff.  We are SO thankful and dependent on the selfless efforts of volunteers giving their time and talent to make God's ministry at MCYC amazing!  We work hard to recruit and hire about 30 college students to work tirelessly throughout the summer and over 75 students and adults who give their time to MCYC have both the skills needed and a strong relationship with Christ to help us accomplish our mission of 'Glorifying God by creating an environment to promote Christian growth' for everyone, including our campers, guests, and staff. ​

Options for varying strengths and abilities will be available from cleaning and organizing to heavy lifting, carpentry, and chopping down trees.

Service Projects

Volunteer service groups make a huge difference in our ability to minister effectively. You will work alongside our full-time staff to prepare our grounds for our year-round programs.

Group Friendly
Great things to do with a youth group, family, or another group that has adult supervision.

Trail Trimming (3-4 people groups) 

Two hours per trail.  Use of power equipment will be necessary and operator must be 18 years old.  Typical group time is 3 – 4 hour.

Tree Removal (2 – 8 people groups)

Help removed downed trees around the camp.  Use of chainsaw by an adult operator is necessary.  Small children can help with branch pick up and clean up with parent oversight.

Wood Splitting (2 – 3 people) 

Help split wood and stack on wood piles throughout camp.

Grass Mowing (1+ person)

Three hour commitment.  Must be 16 to operate mower.

Camp Fire Benches (1+ people) 

Build new benches for our campfire areas and lodge.

Family Friendly
All members of your family ages 5 and up

Dorm room detail cleaning (2+ people)

Two hours per room

Barn Clean up (2+ people)

Time is up to you

Branch Clean up (2+ people)

Time is up to you

Trash pick-up around camp (2+ people)

Time is up to you

Flower bed planting (2+ people)

Takes about 3 – 4 hours

Leaf raking (2 people groups, unlimited groups)

Time is up to you, seasonal from October to November.

Knowledge & Skill Based Projects

Having the wisdom to do the project correctly to last year’s and/or the certification to replace and rebuild the project listed.  Some projects might be good for someone who likes to teach or train your children or others.

Campfire Benches (1+ people)

Build new benches for our campfire areas and lodge

Roof Replacement (8 – 15 people)

Weekend of work.  Start Friday evening and end on Saturday evening or Sunday morning.  May require a second weekend depending on building and square footage.  Must be 16 to be on the roof and 18 to operate any of the power equipment used.  Younger children can help to pick up trash from ground.

Painting (2 + people)

Three hour increments or more.  Ability to be detailed oriented, set up and clean area when finished.  Finished project must look professional.

Plumbing (1 + person/people)

Ability to replace insides of toilets, replace full toilet, and also some drain replacement is needed.

Electrical (1 or 2+ people)

Replace ballasts and light bulbs throughout camp, take about 2 – 3 hours per project or visit.  Cleaning out of light covers.  Replace old lights with new up to date T-8 or LED fixtures.

Door Trim Replacement (1+ person/people)

Replace trim work in the lodge and around doors that have been replaced.
